Hi,
I had to go into the small town I live in early this morning & on the way home I stopped at the local drive thru for breakfast.. I always use cash at food places & when I checked my change in the car, this 49-s LWC popped out. Put away those debit cards, it pays to use cash. Now how do I clean off the gunk on this nice coin that has been hiding for so long.

Getting a LWC back in change always brings a smile to my face : )
Throw him in some acetone for a while...
If that doesn't help...throw him in a tube with all your other LWC finds...
Thanks for sharing!

Always fun to get a Wheatie in change. Try an acetone soak, it might help with some of that gunk.

johnsolaris,
Looks like you forgot to properly crop your photos before posting
When I click on the pics it is very pixelated, what are you using to take photos?

Hi John1,
I have a EOS rebel T6. I use the microsoft program on my computer to crop photos. I am not sure what that program is called. I have never had any trouble with it.

Great find! I'm sure that cent is happy to have a permanent home after working for so long. For me living in the northeast, "D" coins are somewhat hard to find while "S" are now almost unheard of.

There's nothing like checking one's change and finding a treasure. Financially right now, it makes more sense for me to use my debit card than cash, so I miss getting change in my hand. I do seek out opportunities whenever I can. Yesterday, for example, I needed to go to the library to print some sheets from my email account. They charge 20 cents per page and only take cash.

I printed two sheets and gave the lady an SBA dollar. Of course she thought it was a quarter and said I needed to give her more money. I told her what the SBA was and she laughed sheepishly as she gave me my sixty cents in change. The dime and two quarters did yield anything worth saving, but I enjoyed savoring the possibility that there might have been.
