Wow. Unless you enjoy getting "advice" from someone who doesn't know what die varieties are, and thinks the single picture in the Red Book is the only way Pine Tree Shillings look, I think you're better off sticking with this forum.

Umm no need to get defensive, the people there are just as nice and just as helpful as the people here. And just because one person there maybe doesn't know what they are talking about doesn't mean I should disregard that forum. And I'm not really 'choosing' forums in any way. I am actually getting help from someone on there that is an authorized dealer of both the NGC and PGCS, I will ship it to him and he will ship it with some other coins to PGCS to be authenticated/graded and it will save me allot of money. I don't not mean to be disrespectful in any way, just letting you know that cointalk.com isn't full of people who don't know what they are talking about.

Document everything, trust no one

Don't mean to sound cynical, it's just a pricey piece, so be careful.

Good luck, and:

This is very wise advice. Only a ocuple of months ago I read a post from a forum member in the UK who shipped some coins to a 'dealer' for authentication. To cut the story very short the 'dealer' stole all of the coins he sent.

Just be very sure youre sending it to someone reputable. Any person on a forum can pretend to be anyone else.

Honestly for a piece of that potential value Id pay the 50 bucks and join myself to send it in. Its a small price to pay to make sure that you dont get ripped off for something that really cant be replaced

also... Or if you don't want to join yourself you could find a local coin store thats authorized with PCGS and send it in through them for a small fee (around $5-$10), Many many coin stores do this. Even if I did it that way I'd still photograph the coin very well and document everything... As well as just flat out stealing coins people have been known to replace genuine ones with counterfeit's and return the forgery to you...
Be very very careful...

I hope it works out for you, all I'm saying is someone being a dealer doesn't make them trustworthy or honest or anything. It just means they had the money to open a coin shop nothing more.

I would trust him. He's one of the Coin Show hosts. How could he be evil?
