Very nice coin, I have a missing plating loonie that looks a lot like this, but a bit duller. It could indeed be missing plating.

I would certainly trust SPP... I may be new to this forum, but I have known him by rep for almost a decade from other places.

The weight of plating on a loonie (pre-2012) is 0.6 grams, so a missing-plating error would seem most likely to me.
