hey,

I was told to come here for some info about my loonie.

So I found it in a roll of the parks Canada, I wasn't going to open the roll until I saw the white edge of that one loonie. I asked a Product Manager of the mint how could this have happened and he told me he had no idea how this coin had possibly turned out with that finish.

I already have been offered quite a bit of money for this... I guess the mintage of the coin was only 5 million.

So how much is it really worth? and how could this coin be white?

any help is much appreciated.

weigh the coin with an accurate scale, should be 7 grams. either its missing plating or struck on wrong planchet, 700.00 nice error if not plated. if its plated 1.00

I would be able to help you, because I could analyze the surface of the coin by XRF. But, you need 50 posts here on CCF before you can send any member a personal message. What part of the country are you in? Perhaps there are local coin shows you could bring the coin to, to get opinions of dealers and collectors alike.

john100, you had better be patient - what part of this person needing 50 posts was not clear enough?

Nice. I assume you got this from an unopened mint roll in clear plastic?
That fact alone makes me believe it is genuine. Really unique.

It might be on a foreign planchet . Can you see if it is magnetic - just see if a magnet sticks to it .

Without the coin in hand, it is difficult to tell... when you have reached 50 posts, revive this thread, and I can have the coin tested for you. A number of members here, and the moderators, can vouch for me. Just try some searches with "XRF" using the CCF search engines...

I would personally mail any coin I have in my collection to be analyzed without worry to SPP.
