It definetly has nothing to do with the amount of silver in them. They could be made of nickel and I'd still buy as many as I could. IMO

@ Pocket Change, if you want more silver for cheaper buy the Maple Leaf Bullion coins, available at coin dealers for a few dollars over spot. @ Rockdaddy, I think you just gave the Mint a new idea $10 for $10 coins made of nickel.

I have both bullion, Pre 1967 coins, and Nclt coins. I like all of them, especially the coins with wildlife. I have noticed that silver coins tend to have a greater premium compared to nickel collector coins. I'm not sure why. I noticed the nickel dollar are still basically at FV, as are the fifty cent pieces. Rox

Rox> In general the silver pieces sell at a higher premium because of their intrinsic silver value.
i.e Even the worst worn example of a a 1967 or prior dollar has a silver value at today's prices at around $17 whereas the nickel dollar has an intrinsic value of about $0.26.

Thanks Canuck 1, the forum is like a coin shop for gathering info. It's too bad in general that the nickel Commerative dollars aren't more highly valued. I love the '70'71'73'84 nickel dollars. Yet some large pennies sell for $10 and higher for a raw coin and it's not silver. So much to learn, this forum is a must for us new collectors. I've only been seriously collecting for 8 months. So many beautiful coins! Rox

I sold 6 (before hockey release) for $200+ on ebay, so current 8... around $240 for non-educated buyer (approx 30/coin seems to be right)

just checked ebay, saw over 50 auctions for the wolf coin, and not a single bid on the ones I saw, I typed in wolf 20 coin. Is it too early or is this coin not going to be as hot as everyone was guessing?

Just got in my stash of Wolves tonight. My rep signed me up for this year's subscription when the Hockey coin came out. They look nice and authentic - a lot better than the reindeer coin. And the COA is a lot better sized (narrower) this time. The wife will like this one added to her mantle collection of 20-4-20's.
