Why Such A Big Swing On 1909 VDB S Cents

VGRX Valued Member United States 161 Posts	Posted 02/24/2013 11:20 pm With a few dollars burning a hole in my pocket I've been watching the 1909 VDB S cent. Mostly looking for PCGS MS 65 RB I noticed there is a huge $1000+ swing between same grade auctions. With so many examples for sale I would expect to see more stability in price. What am I missing? Sometime youll get a few people who really want that one and run the price up and other times there just wont be much interest and there will only be 1 bid Report this Post to the Staff

BH1964 Bedrock of the Community United States 10982 Posts	Posted 02/25/2013 02:29 am Over the past 12 months, I do see that $1,000 range you're talking about. As noted, eye appeal is a big factor. Others include the auction house, the grading company, the amount of Red remaining, amount of luster remaining, and time of year (seasonal factors). While a $1,000 range sounds like a lot, when you consider it's $2750 to $3750 it makes more sense. Most of them came in right around $3000 to $3200 with buyer's premium (if applicable).
