Hey guys I really like the look of this dime..BUT all that pitting on the rev. has me a bit worried.. Could it be a cast counterfeit ? Or as we can see it was cleaned , polished..So could it have been corrosion and removed leaving those pits

Looks real enough.
But you are right,pitted,cleaned,and polished.
Still a nice coin if you can get it for the right price.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

Appears real, however, the harsh cleaning should be a deterrent not to make the purchase, regardless of it being a Key date!

I don't think I would consider the problems with this coin to be "small issues." It looks like it was corrododed, cleaned and then polished. The only reason this coin has any semblance of eye appeal is because of the polishing. I would pass.

Looks pitted and cleaned, probably was buried and dug up, then cleaned. You'd think someone would post photos in focus when trying to sell a better date coin, unless they want to hide the true look of the piece.

well I am fully aware of the issues, and the only eye appeal is the fact is better than what I have now... Unless I get it cheap I sure wont spend a small fortune on it...

Looks like a problem coin to me.

A combination or all three of: polished, harshly cleaned, or even whizzed.

I don't like how the seller takes pictures 'in the shadows' which to me, is trying to hide or reduce the problems of this coin.

Yeah I would save my money on this one. It may be technically an EF+ but what is it going to look like when it re-tones?

You could get a solid, problem free ICCS F-12 for $200 or so...

It's now over $200... someone's going to be real sad when they get it home...

artdio, at a real bargain price this coin would be okay but now that it's going for good money I would listen to the above posters. One nice thing about the vast majority of Canadian coins is that there's always another one coming down the pipe. Be patient, my friend..

I agree with DBM... and a long time ago already!

That coin has been "whizzed" so bad there's no real numismatic value left, other than as a novelty item... :(

Have a Great Monday everyone... :)

Wow, up to $400 already! It seems there are folks out there that would really like to add that coin to their collection.

It's sad that bidders can't recognize the problems this coin has from the pictures.

Previously I did state how the 'shadowed' pictures hide the obvious problematic features of this coin, but even these 'unclear' pictures show telltale signs of a problem coin.

Bidders who think this coin is an AU or better, should trade in their loupe and start collecting stamps.
