I believe, that it actually "pops more" than it visible on the photo.
But could be similar to the Australian High Relief coins, the surface isn't flat, but "curved down towards center", so that way, the high relief object doesn't show too much above coin edges. And also the coin saves it's 1oz weight, with the same dimensions (if I not mistake the diameter is 38mm).

Where did you find the coins? I'm assuming it was released at your local post office.

I disagree...if theone had bought the coin today at his post office..as the owner he is allowed to take photos of it and post them...images are mint copyrighted...not the coin..should be allowed in my opinion
