I'd pay 2 pounds 10 for one, you might get something like that on ebay, if you get lucky you might get 3 pounds from some unsuspecting person.

It partly depends on what condition the coin is , if its still shiny and new then you may get quite a few bidders intrested.

The trouble with now is that prices for this particular coin have come down since many are now in circulation , 3 months ago people were paying 6 quid for one and now you might make 3 to 3.50 per coin, and maybe a little bit more if its BU.

Was it toned a bit ? And have you kept all the ones you got so far?

I pulled one out of my pocket the other day while making a purchase so I had to spend it (wallet was in the car!) but luckily I had already secured one for my collection. I do tend to throw some of the rarer ones like Mary Rose etc into a jar with a view to trading them later on if someone is interested.

I haven't seen a Rio or Underground one yet... keeping my eyes peeled though.

Interesting stuff

I also havent got a Rio coin , it looks like they were a very low mintage based on current Royal Mint figures. The majority of the Underground coins are going to be released for the rest of the country , I guess that will probably be some time next year ......

Sorry DaytR for not responding - was on holiday (Florida & cruise) for 2 weeks with virtually no internet access!

The first two I found were nice BU (perhaps MS65+) but the third was a bit scuffed and just starting to tone - MS60 or perhaps down to the nether regions of AU...

I had my second 2013 Tube Train £2 on 29 November - funnily enough, I got it in change from the ticket machine when I bought my train ticket to London so I could fly to Miami!

I've kept all the 2011, 2012 and 2013 commemorative £2 coins I've found so far. I tend to put aside better condition commemorative £2 coins, but I occasionally raid the jar and spend them if I need the cash!

Hi Rob , I`m glad you enjoyed yourself in Florida

how did you get through two weeks with virtually no connection to the web ? If I had to go two days I would probably have severe withdrawal symptoms

Interesting stuff regarrding the Underground coin , did you go to Miami with it? On the subject of Dickens £2 coins , they are quite nice when they are BU but toned ones look a bit un-attractive

Yes - I'd taken some 2x2 flips with me for any additions I got in the States or on my Caribbean cruise, so the £2 coin just went to Miami and back in one of them!

It was quite relaxing having virtually no internet access - in 2 weeks I only logged on 4 times for about 15 minutes each time!

Hi Bedeaux - I've now had my fourth in change, so I reckon they are fairly common - they might have a small premium in Gem Uncirculated, but otherwise it's just whatever you can get for one if you exchange it with another collector.
