I have not seen it yet. I also have not see any of the 2011 King James Bible £2 either.

We have got a small number of the King James Bible, ditto Mary Rose. Just got the Rio £2, but not Dickens yet (based North of Manchester). Does anybody know if there will be some "Underground" two pounds coins going into general circulation - not just via the tube (they seem to have disappeared and are now popping up on ebay at a premium! Frustrating!)

Interesting news regarding the Rio coin appearing in circulation, I will have to start looking out for it. Regarding the London Underground coins: The Royal Mint said on facebook that they will be released into circulation for the rest of the country throughout the year as required. Approximately 500 000 will eventually be put into circulation, starting with 200 000 released at the end of January 2013

DaytR, good to hear about the Underground coins. James the actual coin collector (age 11) searches whenever we get a bag of coins from the bank. At least I don't have to pay ebay prices now!

No - was handed to me by a cashier. I noticed the till was full of shiny £2 coins so it looks as if they'd just tipped a bag of them in.

Interesting stuff , if I had seen that till I would have made another trip to that teller , so its most likely they minted a good number of them ...

A co-worker gave me one of these today. He did not recall where he got it from.

Of course, I had to give him back an older standard issue £2 in return but it is nice that he does show me stuff he finds in circulation to see if I need it.

Got my second Dickens £2 coin yesterday - from the same store! But it was at the lottery / tobacco counter and I couldn't see into the till. I got an ordinary 2011 £2 coin in change at the same time. Getting two £2 coins in change together is quite rare - I find cashiers often give you a £2 and two £1 coins when giving change from a £5 note for something costing £1 or less...

Nice find Thats a very interesting observation about how 4 pounds in change is given by cashiers because precisely the same thing happened to me this afternoon ! I have found that self service checkouts are slightly better off if you want to get two 2 pound coins .... At times I have run around dropping fivers trying to get 2 2 pound coins and have ended up with a handfull of 1 pound coins ....the joys of being a coin collector ...
