Yunbo
Well,, at least 1 other person was willing to pay a large sum of money for that roll or it would never have gone that high.

Tell me Yunbo, which 50 of the last million are yours.... No one sat there rolling and numbering them as they rolled off the press. You paid for the sticker, not the coins.

When RCM put the #20000 hologram stick on that roll, that roll became LAST penny roll / LAST 50 pennys in private hands, end of story.
Respect to RCM's authority, who cares which roll is the last roll being manufactured/shipped!

Some of you guys are rough. But at least you might be giving Yunbo or his heirs a story to tell someday (about how people told him he was crazy for buying that roll of coins).

How many more brilliant people would like to comment on how he paid for the sticker? Anyone? I don't think it's been said enough!! Come on..... Someone!
Let the person be. Everyone's acting like this has somehow affected their life. Get over it.

This discussion will also be become a valuable piece of numismatic history........especially whatever post ends up being the last in this thread!!

Quote: I'm happy with this collection, we collectors always pursue happiness in heart, right? A-ha!! Therein lies the real reason... we collect for pleasure, and if you are happy, then the investment potential is irrelevant. That was the point of my first post, but your immediately reply spoke of something very different...

All this talk about "historic" values reminds of the times in which simple people were conned out of treasures by being enticed with shiny glass baubles... Hmm... sounds like the Royal Canadian Mint is invoking a time honored tradition... getting people to pay real money, for pieces of almost worthless nickel with shiny holograms on them, or little glass baubles glued on... or pieces of almost worthless copper wrapped up in a roll of paper with a shiny hologram label... You're buying "Fools Gold" with real money... when you could be using the same money to buy real gold...

Well, as long as yunbo is happy, thats all that matters. Life is short. You've gotta enjoy it. He would just rather have the pennies!

Last year, I saw Macau 2012 100ï¿¥ lotus banknote market price went as high as 3000ï¿¥, and within a year, the price dropped to 600ï¿¥, despite the fact that bank of China has issued 3 million of identical lotus bills.
Not surprised a Chinese bidder is willing pay 8800$ for a roll of pennies.
Chinese adventurers are either rich as Croesus or were bankrupt.
don't get me wrong, I'm not criticizing anyone, there is no right or wrong, it's just a phenomenon.
