its the RCM cleaver marketing with this label that has caused some confusion that some collectors believe this is the last roll produced. If this was the last roll produced it would have indeed numismatic importance. As we saw with Mr. Fhlarety it took a special effort to capture the last penny. Good luck to the new owner

Hi John100,

I spoke to my rep and was shocked that someone would bid even more than $100. My rep kept saying it wasn't the last roll and was just a sticker number affiliated to the roll.

In my opinion, there is no difference between this roll and a banknote with a special number: radar, block, anniversary, whatever, and still collectors pay large sums for them. These special numbers are even cataloged!

People are fascinated by numbers and in some cultures they are quasi-divine.

Someone bought the 20,000th, someone else the 001, still another the 11011 (my b-day). So? For some they are desirable, for others they are not. So? What do you collect? Why? So?

We have the right to comment but we can only criticize after a serious self-evaluation. Once done, we will realize what a fantastic piece the 20,000th is.

now this ebay listing is indeed missleading saying it is second last roll produced, like I mentioned before there is two rolls on ebay that has two # on their rolls so that means roll #20000 is off by at least two numbers. Who knows maybe he will get 10000 for this roll.

Looks to me that someone stripped off the sticker from another roll. That's why the second one is partially transparent. That is the security feature of the sticker to stop this from happening.

The following two quotes sum this thread up nicely :)

"Collecting is a disease for which there is no cure" - Billy Jamieson (of the reality show "Treasure Trader")
"No one ever said collectors were sane" - Me

*** Edited by Staff | The bad word filter is in place for a reason. Bypassing the filter and making the intended word obvious anyway is completely unacceptable. ***
