So a milestone has been reached - 50 roman VIPs (slightly spilling into Byzantine era for one perhaps two but I still count those guys).

A lot of these are culls - some of them are 'cheating' - but I still count them - besides, the history behind them is the important bit.

And with this milestone here is a list of the emperors I have coins representing:
Allectus
Antoninus Pius
Arcadius
Augustus
Aurelian
Aurelius
Caligula
Caracalla
Carausius
Claudius II Gothicus
Commodus
Constans
Constantine
Constantine II
Constantius Gallus
Constantius II
Crispina
Crispus
Elagabalus
Eudoxia
Faustina II
Gallienus
Germanicus
Gratian
Hadrian
Helena
Honorius
Julia Domna
Julian II
Julius Caesar
Justin II
Leo I
Magnus Maximus
Marcian
Probus
Septimus Severus
Tetricus I
Tetricus II
Theodosius
Theodosius II
Tiberius
Titus
Nero
Under Quintillus
Under Vetranio
Valens
Valentinian
Valentinian II
Valerian
Vespasian

The longest uninterrupted period has been entirely staffed this week - Julius Caesar until Nero - 128 years of the peak of Rome.

Heres some pictures of the collection which will soon be moved to a bigger storage space (ive outgrown the box!):

Roman coins + Cleaning Implements - I havent included lighting here, but this is the set up:

The Storage for the Collection:

All the smaller roman coins go into a little cardboard box not pictured here which now does not fit in the box with the rest of the collection!

Outstanding group, you have several emperors that I still don't have. Congrats.

Very nice set up and once again congratulations!

I wouldn't count either one of the two.

Under Quintillus
Under Vetranio

The Constantius II coin might have been minted under Vetranio, but it is not a Vetranio coin.

Gotta get a Quintillus. They ain't too expensive. I got mine for $17 including shipping.

Gil - I fully intend to replace those but for now they are place holderss - they fulfill the requirements I have: Issued by, for or showing the emperor. Its a bit tenuous for some coins (like those mentioned) but as I care for the history I'd rather have the Constantius II coin for Vetranio than a Vetranio bust one. Its a pretty good story!

There are a couple of other minted 'under X' coins which need to be replaced too. Its unfortunate though that I may never be able to get a portrait of Caesar from his lifetime.

The main issue here is that I would rather get on with filling gaps than replacing ones I have - especially with my budget. I'm taking whatever I can get!

Oh, and it I think its worth mentioning the budget for all this - I have spent no more than £130 so far - including postage (that includes my parents expenditures on it). But to be honest, they have all been worth it - I've had more than £130 worth of amusement from the venture.

On the other hand, I've spent about $1350 on coins since November 20th, 2011. That's about £889 in your currency.
