$12 in nickels

2x 1963 and 1 1965
14 nickel nickels
3 American nickels

$115 in dimes (half cwr and half machine wraped)

SKUNKED!

Also got a box of pennies I will post my finds after.

I have a question also, do you look through the green machine wraped rolls because I didn't find anything older than 2001 in them.

Went to the bank to get pennies today but they only had 7 rolls so I went to another bank and got another 46 rolls. Shipped 20 of the rolls to one of the U.S members here so hopefully he posts his finds as well. I will say that pennies are not the most economical items to ship!

I searched through the other 33 rolls. Notable finds were 3 wheat cents including a 1927 which I didn't have. I also found a 1938 Canadian and 3 from the 40's.

Most interesting find was a U.S Magician's Penny. Looks like someone must have taken some time putting it together. It has 2 reverses so would always come up tails.

I as I was going through my box of pennies I came across a nice find, a beautiful BU 1962! And it looks likely to be a hanging 2.

Went through another 15 rolls of nickels. Some interesting finds:

-2 Chinese (I believe) coins/tokens. They are brass and on one side it reads "Wu Jiao 5" and the date, 2012. On the other side it says "ZHONGGUO RENMIN YINHANG" Anybody heard of it?

-1 Diez Centavos from Cuba, 1994

-1x1991, 1x1967 and 1x 2000p Canadian nickels.

-3 12-sided 2x1961 and 1x1962 as well as 49 100% nickels of various years.

Results like this make nickel searching the most interesting denomination in Canada

I received my 20 rolls from O-train today:) Nothing special 1942, 1951 and a 1957. I did find a couple MS Red album upgrades. I also found a 1944 US wheat (now it is back home. lol), 1988 British new penny and a polish 2006 2 grosze.

Unfortunately, (no fault of O-train) this was a horrible trade for me. shipping was a killer, I would have cancelled the deal if I knew what it was before he shipped them. At least I had fun. lol

Maybe we can do another trade sometime where shipping isn't such a deal breaker.

thanks to a friend up North!

5 jiao = 1/2 yuan (slightly more than 5 cents... ). 2012 is quite recent for a foreign coin to have made it to Canada! I have two from 2000 and 2002... 2002 was found in a little pen-jar at the till in a small bookshop (with pen ink on it...), and I got it for its size, along with a U.A.E. 50 fils coin.

People will pass a lot of coins as nickels... the recipients and the perpetrators both think (if they notice) "well, it's only 5 cents". Be sure to pull that American change, make a profit on the UK 20ps, and enjoy whatever else comes your way... you may also want to ask at the tills of tourist-y shops for coin rolls.

I'm getting back into it... $18 in loose rolls. One was a boring BoC roll, but the rest yielded some nice American...

24 nickel nickel (1 1964)
16 American nickels (including 2012-D... when will we start seeing 2013?) (mintmark breakdown... 6x P, 10x D)
1 nice and shiny 2000-P, maybe around MS-63!

I was hoping for some foreign coins... and here's a foreign tip! Go to your nearest Safeway, and check out the customer service donation box... at the same desk where people wire money abroad. Because of this international clientele, the boxes are usually loaded with foreign coins... and sometimes, they will unlock it for you and you can buy the foreign coins out (at a favourable price, of course). At today's location, they didn't have the key... and the box had some nice Filipino small change (the ridiculously worthless 5 and 10 sentimo) and a Susan B.

Sorry you didn't find anything great @cjspearsdog but I'm glad the rolls arrived.

I now have two dedicated pick up banks. Grabbed $18 in pennies from the first and $28.50 from the second.

Finds were as follows:
Canadian - 1941, 1943, 1945, 1946(2), 1947ML(2), 1948, 20 from the 1950's, 1960(6), 1961(7), 1962(14), 1963(11), 1964(23) and 19 with a lot of mint luster, 1967(16), 3 nice condition from the rest of the 60's, 28 nice condition from 1970's, 17 nice condition from 1980's, and 22 nice condition from 1990-1996. Also found 5 2006 mag logo's in nice MS grade to add to the rolls I'm making.

There was one roll that was almost all young Elizabeth with some in really nice condition and a couple wheat cents.

American: 11 wheat cents - 1929, 1939, 1946D, 1949D, 1951D(2), 1952, 1956D, 1957D(2), 1958.

Also found 4 British One Penny's and a foreign coin which looks like it is from Vietnam or Thailand or somewhere similar. It has a temple on the reverse with a 50 denomination and a guy wearing glasses on the obverse.
