So today was the first day out, with my BH lone star. Found a 1995 cent! Zinc, and worthless, but I found something first trip...just can't beat that. Does anyone have any specific tricks with this model to keep in mind by chance? I was picking up a lot of hits but not much in the ground

take some different coins of different metal compositions and bury them in the sand pit or what ever and see what you come up with sounding wise. bury tin and junk and do the same thing. the ground you searched may be mineral or junk rich. so lower the sensitivity. you might miss a coin. but it might save you your sanity.

I have really learned that auto notch is my friend. I have been running in all metal and then checking the hits on auto before I dig. My hunting area is old tobbacco fields, so I am finding a lot of big hunks of iron. Found a dethatcher tine and part of a hoe yesterday. I'm really hoping for some relics, as I am in an area that was well traveled during the civil war. I have been doing lots of research and so far I have traced ownership of the la d back to the 40s. Now I'm trying to get the deed book to go back to the proper time period.
