Greetings, denizens of this fine community...

Newbie here, just got into coins a couple of months ago.
A few weeks ago I bought a sealed box of the 2009 "Formative Year" Cent and had planned to keep it that way for a decade or two. Sadly, my restlessness wanted nothing to do with that plan... so last week I succumbed to its influence and opened a roll.

I found three coins with identical double errors on them (shown below). Then I opened a 2nd roll and found three more of the same. Six coins total (the next 5 rolls I opened yielded nothing)...

Could someone please explain what these are. Die chips? Die cracks? Doubling?(doubt it)

These are too much of a coincidence to be random die chips/cracks. One looks like part of a book-clasp and the other like a boot button. Strange part is, they don't look out of place. It's as if they belong there.
Did the US Mint use a different die for a short period and then scrapped it?
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Most likely die chips, let's wait for a pro or two to chime in.

Die chips happened a lot on this design. Mostly on the shoulder.
