moosejman New Member Australia 2 Posts	Posted 06/18/2005 12:04 am Hi I have a coin. description: United states of america coin. It's a quater dollar It says virgina 1988. Below it has ships. Also written, Jamestown 1607-2007 What I found weird was. That if your looking at the head side. and you turn it around the picture ends up being upside down. I was wondering if this is a misprint. Or how it was supposed to be printed. Any info or a value of this would be apprieciated. Thanx Report this Post to the Staff

This is a series that has been in production since 1999 with 5 states per year being released. The obverse (front) and reverse (back) orientation is opposite. They are made this way and it is not an error. Here is the order of release of the quarters: 1999: Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey,k Georgia, and Connecticut 2000: Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire, and Virginia 2001: New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Kentucky 2002: Tennessee, Ohio, Louisiana, Indiana, and Mississippi 2003: Illinois, Alabama, Maine, Missouri, and Arkansas 2004: Michigan, Florida, Texas, Iowa, and Wisconsin 2005: California, Minnesota, Oregon, Kansas, and West Virginia Future Releases: 2006: Nevada, Nebraska, Colorado, North Dakota, and South Dakota 2007: Montana, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah 2008: Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Alaska, and Hawaii Report this Post to the Staff

Medals are made with both the obverse and reverse the same. Many countries, including the euro nations, now make their coins like medals. I think it is just an effort to be different as through the years that was the main difference between coins and medals. Report this Post to the Staff

I can never remember what country uses a medal strike or a coin strike for whatever coin Belgium also got an A and B position of the writing on the rim for gold coins just to complicate things Report this Post to the Staff

Mike Rest in Peace United States 2884 Posts	Posted 06/18/2005 10:12 pm The year 2007 is the year Virginia and America will be celebrating the 400th anniversary of the Settlement at Jamestown. Jamestown was founded in 1607. The other date, 1788 is the year Virginia became part of the United States. Finally, the year 2000, was the year of issue for the coin!
