Hello. What do you think about this strange "S"? I know, that mintmark in the 1861-s dime looks different, but this "spot" looks interesting:) Do you think that just dirt so strangely composed? Is it possible, that this is a trace of mint mark? I apologize for the picture quality, but I haven't this coin.

No S---Try looking at that area from a different angle or in a different light , comparing that area to another area.
I see an O.

... looks like a worn "O", not an "S"

But there was no "O" version in 1861 dime, so there is no possible this is mint mark, but only just a dirt / effect of wear?

Great catch... there wasn't an O version in 61. 1860 was the last year dimes were minted in New Orleans... So there either isn't a mint mark on the dime in question, or it is an S
