2013 Half Oz First Year? - Coin Community Forum

Demarco Bishopp Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 548 Posts	Posted 05/07/2013 11:37 am The Royal Mint does a Britannia proof set that includes a one ounce, half ounce, quarter ounce and tenth ounce coin. If you've seen a Britannia half ounce then it was probably a proof, hence the higher cost. In any case, Royal Mint products tend to be overpriced. I haven't yet seen a 2013 half-ounce Britannia. It's minted in relatively small quantities, only about 100,000 per year. Compare that to the Maple Leaf or Silver Eagle where you get millions upon millions minted each year.
