My friend told me he could pull out the security thread on a $5 dollar bill. Figuring he would use his own money, I said I don't believe it can be done. But he already had gotten the bill from my wallet. (was on my desk) He started to rip it, I told him to stop since I wanted to eventually spend it, but he indeed was able to pull the thread out a little bit. Here is a photo of it.

Can I still use this bill if I snip off the part that is sticking out?
That friend will never touch my cash and my wallet again!
Luckily it was only a fiver and nothing higher.

I used to do that all the time. It's really no different then if 20% of the bill is ripped off. Or 2 halves taped together.

You do know that the strips are government tracking devices right? (name that movie)

I have also removed the thread. I never had a problem spending it. I don't think many cashiers even check to see if a bill has the security thread in it.
