Yes the coin is damaged but I think Environmental Damage (97), would have been more appropriate. Corrosion is obvious.

The coin definitely looks porous and pitted from being buried or such.

Does PCGS differentiate between damage and environmental damage?

Would it really make a difference to the selling price what the slab read?

Jeckel PCGS does have an environmental danage code which is right next to the damage one. To some people it probably does make a difference though others may just see that it was environmental themselves and not care that it only says damage

Seems to be a lot of damage around the rim on the reverse and some on the obverse. Think they are right on damage. Yes it will make a difference in the selling price of what the slab reads. Probably worth (if you can sell it) about 25% of what one without problems would get. Sorry about that.

Just my opinion
