I recently started going though my foreign coins and spotted this one. I collect Canadian coins, but will hang on to anything of interest. Putting a value to my foreign coins is challenging. Can anyone help?

Nice coin you got there, after quick search I couldnt find any indication that there would be high demand for this coin and when I stopped over at ebay I found a few like yours up for sale and they have so far attracted little or no bids - I would guess its not worth too much in the current market however I'm sure as a historic coin its value should increase over time .....

Ha! Pennies....well I appreciate your honesty and candour. Guess I will toss it back into the collection for another 100 years or so. Thanks everyone!

For that year the only grade worth anything is uncirculated, even EF is not worth much. That one is only fine maybe near VF.

US, and to some extent Canadian, collectors seem to find mint errors collectible in their own right. There just doesn't seem to be the same level of interest for mint errors on UK coins so finding one won't make a coin more valuable - quite the opposite really.

Bacchus2 you so nailed that on the head! We do love our error coins, and they often do increase the value, depending of course, on the overall condition of the coin. Thanks for mentioning that, it was very helpful, and will provided some insight for the rest of the coins I have from England. Oh...and thanks Geoff, the value of an UNC "IS" quite nominal, which now takes me back to a value of about a half penny, as the coin is likely now considered damaged goods!
