Hello, its a sad day yet again..... When I saw this denarius pop up which is very worn however complete I couldn't resist for the price of £2.16. It arrived this morning and guess what...ITS CHIPPED!
I am yet to order a roman silver which hasn't been damaged in some way usually by inadequate packaging.(This was in a standard envelope loose with a with a 1964 Penny, which I didn't even order?) I've decided from now on I will cease ordering roman silver online as I don't want my collection of mail damaged denarii to grow any further... These coins have survived for 1700ish years in a complete state only to be broken by bad packaging!
Anyway, rant over . This is the coin I received, the legend on the obverse is unreadable however the detail on the bust and reverse isn't too bad. Can anyone help me in identifying the ruler from the bust on the coin? I was thinking maybe Caracalla?

It is bad when sellers do not bother to pack the coin well.
Was it sent from another country, if so the mailing system will be vicious to it.
Yet even within the UK mail does get handled roughly, since milliions of items are processed ever day.
If you bought this on ebay you are well within your rights to let the seller know about it, via a message at first.
If they do not bother to reply with an apology then you can let them know via Feedback.
