Has this ever been brought up before?
How about a "Feedback Forum" where we can have a thread to give proper credit for a good trade/buy/sell. While I'm confident that most people here can be trusted, it would be nice to have a place to leave honest feedback for those who have done well by me. Some members here have mailed things out to me before I can even get a stamp on the darn envelope, and I, for one, would like others to know that this is a person they can feel confident dealing with. I believe in giving credit where credit is due. (Of course, it can go both ways, too.)

It would be nice to have a Sticky thread where people can at least say they had a good trade/sell/buy from another member. I like how the knights system is set up but it's simpler because there are a lot fewer members then the entire Forum. where is that envelope btw?

The feedback mechanism we have in place works like this: if someone buys a coin or other numismatic items via someone else on the forum and the transaction proves to be less than as advertised, the complainant notifies the moderators. After investigation and if we determine an intentional and egregious error has been made, we take appropriate action : Slightly more seriously, CCF is not an auction site and a feedback or rating system will only pit members against each other and create competition, ill will, and flame wars. Our primary purpose is education including exchange of information, not B/S/T of numismatic material which is merely an ancillary part of the forum. Fred

I really appreciate the time you guys take in explaining a solution or reason against something. It shows that you care to take the time and really express what your true concerns are for the members of this community. Thanks Oh and I don't wanna So no feedback sounds like a grand idea.

Thanks for the explanation Fred. I never really considered it like that. I just want to say that I've met some great traders here and want to make sure they get recognized. I don't really collect expensive coins (cupronickel and copper mostly), and I appreciate the fact that not one person here has made a profit off of me so far, not even on shipping costs to Canada.

This forum is an ideal troll hunting ground because of our small size and friendly atmosphere, and any database would serve to make it even easier for someone to establish a "reputation" prior to their scam. A relatively new member with a few "worthy" trades could establish a good enough record to distract the average poster, and that distraction is all that's needed. At the Buy/Sell forum I used to moderate, we had a couple of members (who later proved to be known trolls) invest months of membership and dozens of posts throughout the subforums before running their scams. Of course, Coin Community counts among its' members some real major-leaguers in the numismatic anti-fraud lineup, and any potential troll is literally taking their life in their hands by trying a scam here. But that's another story entirely.

I reinforce what Dave said and reiterate what I previously stated. We are very serious about wannabe con and fraud artists here on CCF. As a 24-year Army combat soldier with two wars behind me, this may sound extreme, but we have the capability and motive to follow up. Mess with CCF and we mess back big time: Fortunately and as expected, CCF members have almost always proven themselves to be above reproach and have shown to be exemplary members of the numismatic community so such extreme measures have not been taken.

Sorry Fred, I just don't think guillotines with rolling heads are appropriate for a family forum.

ts360, you have a very valid point. My inclusion of the smilie was merely in jest but if you feel strongly enough about it, I'll remove it, no problem with full understanding.

Hi Morgan Fred, Thanks for the response, I don't think it is that big of a deal. My 10-year old daughter saw them and said, "they are too gross for kids, especially with the blood dripping down on the blade."

I never really thought about it before but its true. If you look at the level of respect several members of this forum have in the numismatic community, If we collectively went after someone they would be in some serious trouble.

We have: Forum Mom Forum Dad Forum Uncle Forum Kid Forum Moderators all we need now is: Forum Bouncer Forum Hitman Forum Lobbyist We'd be the most knowledgeable and intimidating numismatic force in the universe. ------------- I suppose I failed to mention I just took a shot of cough syrup so I'm not very lucid at the moment

Got 'em. You just don't know when they're sneakin' up. They're just like baseball umpires. You know they're doing a fantastic job when they go unnoticed.

t360, I toned down the guillotines a bit. I sincerely hope your daughter will continue to read (and maybe join?) CCF as a Young Numismatist. As a very active Scouter of over 50 years, I am very sensitive to youth and to their perceptions of our adult world. I admit the guillotine was a bit much; a less graphic illustration of what happens to forum violators would probably have been sufficient warning.

Hi Morgan Fred, Thanks, Rebecca gave it a . She collects Morgans with multicolor toning. Helping kids in scouting for 50 years is certainly a very significant milestone to be proud of.
