I have noodled my way through thousands of dollars of 50 cent pieces and never found one. It is one of the few decimal coin varieties that I do not have in my collection.

Tiddy: it's nice to see that your patience is rewarded. Yass: I know that you're serious about your noodling, so I'm surprized that success has eluded you so far. My own noodling has earned me one incuse, and two 1972 5-cents. I mention the latter by way of a comparison of frequency. Peter in Darwin

I found an Incuse at the shop on Saturday. I think I'm into double figures with them now, but some were purchased.

Don't you love it when people do things like that for you? My wife doesn't understand my collecting at all, yet she will keep everything shiny and new and anything a bit different for me to look at.

As I have posted earlier, I have NEVER found one. I have sorted through $600 in 50s in the last 3 weeks. Still nil, nada, zip, sfa. The only one I have was given to me by a friend.

I bought one from a dealer aunc last year, better than wasting time noodling when I have a full time job and family
Common circulated ones can be bought from around the $20 mark absolute bargains for busy collectors

While wasting my time noodling, I have found half a dozen mules, a wavy 20 cent, numerous 1972 5 cents, partial collars, broadstrikes, doubling (all denominations), numerous upsets (again all denominations), strikethroughs etc etc. I have worked 100 per week for the last 4 years, noodling in what spare time I have, and have luckily managed to hold onto my family.
If I'm going to buy something from a dealer, it would have to be Choice Uncirculated / GEM because I have most of the rest.

I, for one, am in awe of your long term noodling efforts Yass. I used to get bags of 1000x$1 coins from the bank and look through those and once looked through $500 in 20c coins. I think I kept it up for a month before my back and eyes made me quit!

I have to admit I love noodling even if I don't find anything at all. I haven't done it much in the past year, or even collected much for that matter as all spare time is spent on building the new house. However, it is nearly finished, so I am really looking forward to getting back into it.
I have never found a mule, but I have found a wavy 2 and incuse 50c.
