Afternoon all,

Just going through the bits and bobs that I've amassed from the various auctions that I've bought, just come across the above.... Have had a look at it, there seems to be a pressing error on the O of the One Penny.

Was this a common thing or does it make the coin rarer?

I've added a picture of the error below...

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

I have a quite a few with blobs, and other strange marks as well as die errors, and although they maybe of interest to the individual I doubt they add value to a coin. It is mostly error dates (mules) etc that up the value.

Hi Simon114, I can't find anything that mentions anything with an open 'O' in any of my reference books. Though I'll keep looking. Any chance you could post a pic of the reverse please?

You see the line undet the O, I came across quite a few having that die crack, (if it is a die crack) one is plated in Spinks (different year)

I would definately hold onto that though Simon becauser that open O seems unique.

Also this site (if you haven't visited it yet) displays trays of grogeous pennies, including all the rare varieties
