are you sure? hard to tell without the coin in hand is all the extra flat or is it raised? just that I have never seen so much over the 9 before usually its just close to the number

That is a shadow and indicates that the area is lower than the numbers themselves. Classic Machine Doubling. |

ya very strong...i would keep it otherwise as a coin to look back on to compare if you come across another that looks similar....plus I think some extreme Machine Doubling examples can carry a little bit of a premium I believe |

The first MD I found, I was convinced I hit the "gold mine". Now I have numerous "shacks" laying around just for that, for comparing to others. And if there is a premium for some of the more impressive MD's, I have a couple for sale, I could use an extra 20 or 30 grand.  Edited by rpmes

This coin was struck from normal dies and damaged because of movement during the strike. On a doubled die the hub doubled the die making the devices enlarged. This one is show the typical flat shelf like doubling called Machine Doubling.
