Quote: I like most all half dollars but here's my favorite. Robert Scot's Flowing Hair Lady Liberty was considered "ugly" at the time and was redesigned to the Draped Bust before the year was up. That's why we have both designs on the 1795 Silver Dollar. Personally, I think she is a good looking lady.

I like the WL best. I remember getting them occasionally as a kid and remember how special I thought they were. Of course they weren't so special that I kept them, buying model airplanes was much more important.

This is a tough one. In my opinion the walkers were the most beautiful coins ever minted. However draped bust and capped bust halfs are my favorites. This is not my most valuable coin but I love the awesome die clashes.

Good call muddler! My favorite coin is the Franklin half dollar. The design just grabbed me and has never let go... I was flipping through a Red Book when I first started collecting. I came across the Franklin half and just froze. Been collecting em ever since.

My favorite is one I don't own, the Judd 1504. My favorite in my price range is the Walking Liberty.

No such thing as ONE favorite for me. The following definitely top my list. The 1972, 1974-D, and especially the 1977-D DDOs I found this last year while roll hunting (sorry no pics). I still am thrilled each time I look (stare!) at this 1998 SMS: Another would be the following b/c of its age/design: And now I will really go outside the box... I cannot help it... I love these Carr overstrikes especially since they were legit common dates before the process: And likely my favorite: I know some people absolutely HATE these overstrikes. That's OK - the hobby is about fun. And for me... these are fun to have. They have been discussed on other threads in the past... not meaning to make this another one of those threads - just posting some of my favorites.

Great photos and descriptions so far ... I humbly submit two USA half dollars as my collection favorites that might pique your interest ... 1936 Battle of Gettysburg HalfPCGS VG10 ... the favorite in my circulated set. Exceptional example of a coin not intended for commerce that found its way to me. 1937 Battle of Antietam Half DollarPCGS MS67/CAC ... stunning coin with luster and eye appeal that is impossible for me to capture. Appears as it was released from the mint yesterday. Hopeful that classic silver commemorative are welcome in this thread. David
