Quoting has to be done manually. Enter the qoute codes, either by manually typing [quo te] and [/quo te] or by pressing the "Insert quote" button when you click on "Reply to topic". Then copy and paste the text you wish to quote. Thus typing this: [quo te]i was also wondering how to set up a signature on my posts, thanks CC.[/qu ote] creates this: Quote: i was also wondering how to set up a signature on my posts, thanks CC. As for the question I just quoted: thanks to some spammers deciding that the easiest way to spam their stuff was through signatures, I'm afraid that signatures are only available once you hit 100 posts. Once you hit that mark, editing the signature becomes an option when you click on My CCF, then Manage Your Profile.

This is part of the rules you agreed that you had read when you registered. You'll note that the very next rule is a prohibition against new members posting external links. You may consider this draconian, but we cater to the newer collector and YN's here, and we're serious about protecting them. It is pretty obvious that you're here to be a contributing member. However, we have to ask you to adhere to the same set of rules we hold every other member to. So far, you've included that Youtube link in every single post, an act which violates both of the rules mentioned - if you put some copy in every post, it's a sig regardless of where you locate it.

I did not realize I was violating the rules other forums I joined did not mind a youtube homepage link I was just trying to let people see some of my collection and talk numismatics, ill go back and read the rules like I should have done its just I joined this forum and another the same day, and thought the link rules where no search engines, no competition an so forth(like the other forums I have joined), because read a bunch of threads and saw tons of links to all different sites, anyways thanks for letting me know, take care. I'm just trying to find a place to read and learn about coins and share some my thoughts and opinions.

Drive-By Links: Promotion by new members of other sites. These type links are sometimes very obvious, sometimes they are not. We are not a free advertising site, so if you are here to advertise please click here. Posting links to sites you own is not allowed until you reach 50 quality posts. Please do not be offended if you have a link removed. It's not a reflection on the quality of the site and it's not personal. Profile Links: Search engines are blocked from member profiles, so if you are thinking of signing up just to get a back link in your profile, keep moving and don't waste our time and yours. It will be worthless. Competing Links: From time to time links may be posted that are in a direct conflict with a Coin Community revenue stream. These links may be removed depending on the possible affects on this site. so links are illegal till 50 posts and signatures 100 posts? and Is the 50 link rule for ebay sellers and online stores or every link I'm confused?

You forgot to cite this one from the signature section... Quote: 6. Please don't try to be clever and add a manual signature to every post. Trust me, you're not the first to think of it. Exactly what you were doing. You also didn't cite the first paragraph from the external link section. Quote: If you are a new member, please refrain from posting external links right away, live or static, unless you have prior approval from the staff. Stick around and get to know everyone first. This will avoid any confusion about your intentions. Good things come to those who wait.
Perfectly clear, that's why its the first paragraph.

Keep in mind, there are some significant differences between CCF and other competing forums. Our express mission is to cater to newer numismatists and especially YN's; nobody in numismatics is doing more than CCF to bring young people into the hobby. We've just finished the Chicago ANA show, where we gave away thousands of coins to YN's at our booth which were predominantly donated by the membership. Have a look here: https://goccf.com/t/155772It's not the first time we've done this; we did Orlando FUN in January and the Philly ANA show before, and we're making an ongoing habit of it. That commitment requires us to manage the forum in a much stricter fashion than others you're used to. We enforce an absolute G-rating (your manner indicates this is nothing you'll ever run afoul of) in all postings here. We dole out "privileges" such as sigs, link posting and the ability to sell/trade according to a strict ruleset designed to both encourage active participation in the community, and discourage potential trolls. We only have the right to enforce such a ruleset if we enforce it equally, across the board. We count some very recognizable names in numismatics among our members, true experts in their areas, and even knowing who they were when they registered we still held them to the same standard. This isn't the first time we've had to discuss the rules with a new member of honorable intent; in fact, the more experienced you are with online numismatic communities, the stranger our way will seem. Until you know why we do it, that is.

IM very aware of that now that I read it, I obviously didn't know signatures where not aloud or I wouldn't be asking how to set one up on a thread and use a "maunally created one" at that, kind of putting a bulls-eye on myself don't you think, I'm not trying to be cheeky I'm just trying to understand the rules. I have no problem fallowing the rules.. I'm asking after the so many posts "or sticking around awhile" is that when people are aloud to post links? because it also says ,"posting links to sites you own is not allowed until you reach 50 quality posts." so I'm asking when are you aloud to post links like youtube or ebay like I see others doing?... does becoming a support influence any of this, are youtube links always prohibited. I just want to know for sure after I "Stick around and get to know everyone first. This will avoid any confusion about MY intentions. Good things come to those who wait." can I post links or is it after 50 posts? or when if ever can I post a youtube link? or is it prohibited to post youtube links altogether?

Youtube links are extremely frowned upon because of the comment system there. They are completely out of control. We have tags to embed videos instead.

As a matter of fact the second video I just looked at of yours has some very nasty language in the comments. So no, your youtube link is not allowed.

thanks for clearing this up for me I'm not trying to abuse the site in anyway or hinder it, and I'm sorry for already causing you to have to alter my posts I was going to remove the links anyways... sorry for not reading the rules that's very foolish and rude of me to do on a free resource like this is just I join so many sites and stuff I assume I'm going to be complying with average rules.. but that was my error..and I want new numismatic collectors just as much as you guys! Anyways take care ill just stick to making threads on the sites I'm more familiar with didn't mean to cause an issue or such a seen.
