This comes up often. Almost all Folders are not a great thing for coins. Nice for kids but not for serious, long term collections. The reason is the glue used to make them.
Large sheets of papper are coated with glue. Then the slotted cardboard pages are layed on that, cut to size, dried and then done.
In areas where moisture can get to those Folders, that glue is sort of reactivated and gets to the coins. In processes where the glue is put on in stripes, you'll often see coins with dark stripes on the reverse from that glue.
Other problems with Folders is the slots are made in a tapered method to hold the coins in place. If using one you would notice the coins sort of snap in place. Also, most people use their thumb or fingers to push the coins into those slots. I know one kid that used a hammer.
