5oz Johnson Matthey and Mallory poured bar. This 5oz version is quite rare.

Any of the small silver bars seem to be hard to find in my area. Only one I have picked up in the last couple months was a 5 gram JM Shipwreck bar, no packaging. Was given to me for showing a shop owner how to do a PRAM reset on his Mac.
No idea on values for these, just thought it was pretty sweet and numbered.

CGCoins, good pickup! Those JM shipwreck bars are pretty rare and have a significant premium attached with them. I have seen many on ebay sell around $75-$100 without the original seal packaging. It just depends on condition of them scratches, low serial number, etc.

Wow, Its difficult finding much info about them at all. Seems like JM did not really document what wreck it was from. When I get home, I'll see about a Pic and the serial # for everyone. Its toned, so not blast white like a sealed bar

From the information I've found online and through other sources there were supposed to be 20,000 JM shipwreck bars minted. However the largest serial number that I have ever seen for those is 6000/7000 out of a supposed 20000. That could explain the premiums and collect-ability of them.

Mine has a Serial of 004648 But the few I have seen have never been over 6000...never really thought about it before you mentioned it.

Amaths, I finally found one of the Johnson Matthey pieces you have in your collection. I've been looking for it a while now. I will post a picture when I receive it.

Johnson Matthey 1988 Visa Olympic elongated round. Another community member picked this one up a few years ago and I just had to find one for myself.
