7070, that choice does not give live view capability. So, no, not a good choice. The oldest model I would go back to is the XS or XSi. Also consider the T1i or T2i. I have the T2i. For price comparison purposes, I got the full kit with 18-55 lens on ebay for about $170 shipped. It was basically brand new when I got it.

Yes that is a very good choice. You will need the right lens and the soft ware to go with it.

ngs428 I used your list to order parts. All have arrived except the EOS-M42 Adapter which is coming by way of camel from China Thanks for posting the updated list the thing is I know nothing about Canon lingo. (Nikon Guy ) I have been looking for a Canon body to complete the setup and have had no luck using the terms I have found in this thread 1100D Rebel T3 $151.36 550D Rebel T2i $144.61 500D Rebel T1i $139.45 1000D Rebel XS $101.32 450D Rebel Xsi $94.75 looks like the camera I linked is a lower end version would this be a better choice? https://www.keh.com/shop/canon-eos-...y-black.htmlMy budget is about $150.00 - $175 for the canon body recommendations (and Links would be appreciated) thank you I have a copy stand that I picked up when I first started looking at coin photography (can not believe that was 10 years ago.. 2007 or so) looking back on my old posts, it was a different time I am looking forward improving my game Photos from 2007 (old game) Nikon D80 60mm Micro

In the past I used a T2i, and it had everything I needed for coin photography. (I use the T6s currently, after the T2i USB connection started acting up after a few years of being plugged and unplugged)

7070, the body you linked will work. Also, don't forget about the opalux and make sure you use the diffusion at the lens method described in the silver washout thread. The section that talks about the 4" square piece of opalux at the lens.
Also, best of luck that the camel makes it :)

Yes, that is the light. When I tried getting it 3 months ago I could not get it shipped to me. IKEA CSR stated it was being discontinued. Maybe it isn't, that is good. Pick a couple up!!

IKEA Jansjo LED lights -- three on the way opalux on the way from Jet. Free shipping (had to order 2 pond lights for my Dad to get the free ship) so the free part is debatable... All I need is the Canon body, still looking Question AC adapter or battery power? still awaiting for the camel

I started with battery, now on AC. You will want AC. Only issue is that OEM AC adapters are almost impossible to find for these older bodies. I had a bad experience with a 3rd party one (DC coupler got stuck in the camera). I went to Amazon.com to get a new one and it is working well. For the T2i: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01E...pop_mb_pd_t2

7070, once you select your body we can find an adapter for you. The Canon website was out of stock for the one for my T2i.
