Yes, it is about $1 cheaper shipped from dickblick if that is all you buy ($12 vs $13). I needed a few other items from jet.com so I got free shipping. Certainly two good options. There aren't too many options.

Here are some sample images of some pocket change I had sitting around: I left the exposure compensation at 0 for the first one, the 2nd one is at -2/3. Nickel is at 0. Cropping done only. For some reason all my images are rotated 90 degrees CW after I shoot them in live view. Any way to get them to be the correct orientation? Top of the coin is in line with the top of the camera.

Those are extremely nice!
You can keep the images from rotating by going into the menu and turning off auto-rotation.

Thanks Ray! Once I used the diffuse at lens approach and I saw the result, I immediately thought I was on to something. Much easier to diffuse at the lens vs on the light..
Thanks again for all your help!
One follow up question. Is there an optimal distance from the coin to the lens?

Quote: One follow up question. Is there an optimal distance from the coin to the lens? I think you're asking if there is optimal distance from coin to diffuser, correct? Generally, the higher the angle vs the coin, the better. If you're shooting slabs then there are other considerations such as not getting so close to the lens that you get direct reflections from the slab surface (glare). But for raw coins, the direct reflections are usually a good thing.

Yes, at this point my lens and diffuser are basically at the same level.
Thank you!

Thank you for the pics, my set up is the same as yours except I'm defusing at the lights.
I have tried to get Canson Opalux Diffusion Material here but was told I had to buy 10 sheets.
Does any one know where I can get 1 sheet or can someone mail me a sheet or a piece 8"x8" I will pay.
