Greetings,

Is this a silver coin. It weighs 24.2gms, not 27. Is it a fake?

Thank you all for your input.

Looks weak and mushy, and these are very heavily counterfeited. I'm going with fake.

silver piastre French indo-china
27gr, 0.900 silver

A simple test : is the coin magnetic?
If not, put the coin on your fingertip en hit it gently with a metallic object. You should hear a clear sound (compare with a coin you know its silver).

Yes fake. I've seen hundreds of these here (various years and some non-existant year issues). Available on market stalls the length and breadth of Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia etc.
