I've just described the above-mentioned rule in the English version (in my native language it's been there since 2010).
I failed to understand the meaning of "the . looks very like the . that the date converter shows as 1,000.", because the converter actually represents symbols for 1..9; 10; 100. I mean up there there's no "1000"-symbol, though it exists ("千" simplified version, "仟" for traditional).
