Thanks for info CC-Ottawa! I'm kinda disappointed Piedfort is 1 oz again vs 1.25 oz (Now that extra 1/4 oz would have made an impressive Piedfort)
Rest in Peace

The Silver fractional set is dated 2014. I was curious, as I thought we already had one this year...yup..2014.

Went to the post office and cancelled the candy cane and kept the Piedfort and ordered the silver fractional set.

The SML fractional set is dated 2014, is the RCM still calling it a 25th Anniversary Set? Reminds me of US putting out Eagle Sets for the past few years.

Nothing in the Mint e-mails or catalogue says the fractional set is associated with the 25th anniversary.

I think that was another false rumour (like the 1.25oz maple).

There's no mention of the fractional set being 25th Anniversary in the email from my rep. It's just a silver fractional set.
What makes this different is the gold plating. The large upside down maple leaf on the front is guilded and the edge of the coins are also guilded.

What is 25th Anniversary is the Piedfort coin.

It can't be 25th anniversary if it's 2014, it's logic because 2013 was the 25th anniv.

Now, 2014 means that it will be shipped next year?

For those that have seen, do you like the set?

The box for the gilded fractional set is ugly. Why couldn't they use a nice wooden box?
They are using the same box used for the Royal Baby.

Plus the mintage of 9999 is too high for me.

Just trying to jog the old memory- The Penny Set was 5,000 & the 25th Ann. SML fractional was 8,000 mintage?

The 2013 set early this year was mintage of 9999.

@coinhooked, I do like the look/design of the fractional set.

I wasn't going to buy it but caved and based on the coin design. It's an upside down gold maple with part of another silver maple poking out under it.

The box is the same old fugly maroon clamshell that last years came in which is a real big disappointment.
With the $50 increase from last year, I think they could have done better.

Thanks CC-Ottawa, I did end that with a question mark. I'm guessing these sets will sell out fast & do sound nice. For some reason, I thought the mintage was higher for this set than 25th SML set.

Everybody should stop buying so much coin, the RCM seems to upgrade their price with lowest quality. As a consumer they do not deserve so much money, and for myself I just ordered the Piedfor...
