Thanks for the reassurance coinhooked!

The final screen for direct ship before purchase states that there are no returns. Yet the receipt states to keep the receipt for returns. Somewhat confusing...

I am from MB, they charged me PST. Just found out that MB is the only province to differentiate between bullion (no PST) and collector coin bullion (yes PST).
News to me. ^&*(^ taxes!

Not so, BC is also charged PST on collector coins. One way to avoid the tax is to buy from out of province dealers.

I found this in the bullion Q/A section of the Gatewest site:

Q) Do I have to pay any taxes (like GST, HST, or PST)?
A) Pure gold, silver, and platinum coins and bars which are issued for bullion purposes (not collector's coins) are exempt from all taxes in Canada. All pure gold, silver, and platinum collector's coins are exempt from all taxes in every Canadian Province except Manitoba, where Manitoba PST applies. We do not charge any taxes for customers ordering in the United States, however, please check with your local State office whether you would be required to pay any taxes on an incoming shipment of pure bullion from Canada.

@MoneyPenny
Your comment makes sense since Gatewest would not charge you PST since you are out of province.
Would save the Tax if I bought from another province but would be on the hook for shipping, can't win :(

@relic

Its funny because I now order mostly from Gatewest to avoid the tax. For you to avoid the tax you would have to order from J&M Coins in Vancouver or Colonial Acres in Ontario or other dealers out of province
I don't know the shipping from J&M but the shipping is only $6.50 for orders over $100 at Colonial. The shipping is offset by the saving in taxes. The savings would add up if you have a big order. Say you order $500 of coins, I would save 7% BC PST = $35. $35 - 6.50 shipping =$28.50 total saved.

In parallel we have Perth Mint release (actually it happened yesterday), so Talisman for now, does not list RCM, but Perth Mint.

Map-shaped Platypus coin is cool (but this not enough even for impulse buy)

The below, not RCM product, but since we speak about Piedfort:

http://colonialacres.com/products.p...50765&ref=47

C/A has "2012 1oz $1.00 Silver Australian Koala High Relief Proof Coin" for $79.95!
.... and I bought it last year for $99 from Perth Mint.

This is real Piedfort...6mm thickness. Very nice coin.

You said it all when you said " Perth Mint".

Almost all of their coins can be bought for 20% less a year after their release.

just a thought here, but maybe they should offer some 1oz christmas coins where the holder has a small little hole so it doubles as an ornament :) I know lots of people collect the swarovski snowflake ornaments

Just my observation.. Since Perth Mint announced that they will stop selling coins one year after the release date and declare mintage, I found that coins reaching the time limit (1 year after release) suddenly appears in many dealers at below release price. This leads me to *suspect* that PM is doing stock clearance and selling their remaining stock cheap to dealers. Is that possible?
