It is a lot nicer than I expected. I can't wait until mine arrive. My order says placed sept 30, and processing Oct. 5. I wonder what this means, does it mean it went to shipping on the 5th?

Pretty savvy marketing - gotta get Santa out there in time for Christmas - instead of starting in November, which, given RCM's shipping headaches, would have put a lot of Christmas gifts in danger. That's the sort of thing that gets customers mad, and an angry customer doesn't return.

Although my order for the 20Uk coin originally went through, they eventually cancelled it. "Only available to U.K. residents".

I was also interested until I saw UK residents only but I am more happy that I got 2 of the St George & Dragon Birth coins.

Quote: Although my order for the 20Uk coin originally went through, they eventually cancelled it. "Only available to U.K. residents". You could give it another try, RM removed the UK Residents restriction from their webpage a few weeks ago, but ordering from outside UK still need to pay VAT. I found this article from The Guardian, which I've hread is not a very reputable news source in UK, but still an interesting read. http://www.theguardian.com/business...er-scepticalI ordered 3 myself, I like the "St George and Dragon" design.

"Not a reputable news source" with a quote from the article "The coin contains 0.999 silver, which is less valuable than traditional sterling silver, but avoids taxes on precious metal imports in key markets across the far east."
Only in the UK is 99.9% Fine silver worth less than 92.5% Sterling silver? You have to wonder what the other portion of the sterling is? Gold?

"Not since the 1980s has a Royal Mint coin gained in value. I doubt any dealer will give more than £8 or £9 for it," he said." If it's true, it's a shame for UK Mint. However, I don't imagine a Canadian dealer saying that about RCM .... it's like inviting customers to not buy to you.

Dumb article. Fine silver worth less than sterling silver? And if the coin is only available to UK residents why does anyone care about taxes in the Far East?

"The coin contains 0.999 silver, which is less valuable than traditional sterling silver, but avoids taxes on precious metal imports in key markets across the far east." I also don't agree with that, that is why I said they are not a very reputable news source. But if we look at the other points they made in the article: "The £20 coin, the first since The Royal Mint began designing decimal coins, is considered legal tender by The Royal Mint, but in practice will not be accepted by banks or shops." and "A spokeswoman for the Mint said ... the refusal of banks to accept the coin for deposit had also led the Mint to adopt the unusual practice of offering a refund during the first six months after purchase."If what The Guardian reported is true then RM's 20 for 20 is not a "Real" 20 for 20 like ours offered by RCM. I am not saying I care as I don't live in the UK, but I think it will make the coin less attractive to the general public in the UK, especially who are not collectors.
