My most sentimental is a Peace dollar that was my grandmother's and a proof silver bar my mom gave me for Christmas in 1973.

Checked my junk silver quarter roll, and found an almost smooth 1893 barber. I'm sure it has no value over silver, but I guess it's sentimental to me now as the oldest coin I own. I also have a 1926 penny I found in spare change. I think I like the penny more than the barber, because the barber was being thrown away.

Expensive? Not counting the gold eagle in the mail, it'd be my 1823 cent.
Sentimental? The three halves my great grandfather left me before he passed and the steel cent my grandmother gave me just after that.

Most expensive: 1812 ruble. Paid $60 for it, IIRC. Most valuable, monetary: uncertain between 1841 US cent (probably XF) and [my latest acquisition] the 1768 "Siberian" kopek (probably somewhere around Fine). Most valuable, sentimental: 1932 Soviet 20 kopek... told its story in the "first coin you ever collected" thread. Most valuable, by sheer coolness of the coin and the fact I own it: Peter I (well in his name anyway) kopek circa 1696, KG 1586 (there are many reasons for the coolness of that specific coin, but I would probably list them in a separate thread if/when I could make a decent photo of it).

Most Expensive Coin: 1918 British penny with mint mark KN. VF-20. Most Sentimental Coin: Either my first coin, a 1962 Japanese 50 yen. Or my British penny from 1918 (KN), it belonged to my grandpa who I didn't know collected coins. And I'm pretty sure he got it in his change when he went to England.

The most valuable coin I own is a VG8 1877 IHC with CAC. The most sentimental coin I own is a 1911 (I think) sixpence my wife gave me just before our wedding that I kept in my pocket, somewhat in conformity with tradition.

Quote: Why is this thread in the US form? My most expensive/ sentimental coin(s) are not from the US. I can move this to the main forum if that will help with participation.

Most valuable: I inherited my grandfather and great-grandfather's collection, which included world coins from the middle ages all the way up to the 1950s when my grandfather served in Korea. I have no intention whatsoever of selling any of them, but included is an old (1230s) HRE coin (Heinrich von Molenark silver denar). Nearest value I can find for it is roughly $100, although bids on coins like that are pretty hard to find. There were some other old coins in there, but nothing I was able to ID was worth more than $20. Most sentimental: Probably a tie between the 1947-S nickel that got me started collecting again, or a 1922 Peace dollar that my grandfather gave to me a very long time ago.

Since this is in the U.S. Modern Coins, my most valuable would be my 1943/2-P DDO Jefferson FS-101 PCGS MS64;

valuable/sentimental
1882 Morgan that I got from my dad who got it from my great grandmother. I remember looking at it as a kid and thinking it was crazy that I was holding a 100+ yr old coin.
