On the day of release many bank branches will have the new notes for dispersal. As of yet I do not think they're taking the existing $5 & $10 out of circulation, like they did with the $100's and $50's ... more of an integration like the $20's.
If you go to your local branch you can place an order for up to a brick.

Wonder if the Bank of Canada will save the last bills of the last run of the old $5s & $10s to sell off like the Mint did with the last of the pennies?

Highly doubt it... it's not like they're discontinuing the denomination

They did do the Lasting Impressions sets for the $5 and $10 back in 2001/2002.

I love the background on the $5. The most identifiable landmark on Earth is my wonderful state of Michigan!

I really like the designs on the 5 and 10 dollar bills. The artists did a great on all the bills, true Canadiana themes. My only complaint, I would have replaced the queen with a notable prime minister on the $20 bills.
I hope we get no complaints about these bills, like we did with the $100 bill with the insulin researcher image or the $20 bill with the Vimy memorial in France.

I agree with you 1945V on putting a notable prime minister on the $20. You may or may not agree with my preference but it should be Pierre Trudeau IMO.

Right now the Bof C is not really on top of there game,,,The Printers are not,,, the mint is busy with all the silver special coins,,,So I agree that will be no 5 for 5 or Matching 10 serial numbers old vs new...liike in 2002....I saw video...of Tiff M. and the new senior (Dep)gov Stephen Poloz (Something like that---be only a short time til all of canada knows yu?I might looik up your Bio later even...)..Talking...They seem like very smart men.....good .....They said that Canada (And B of C) did not quite do as well as they thought...I myself agree what I see around the Praires here is the same...Not bad not not rosey either...

PET is still a contentious figure in Canada, so it's unlikely he'll be on a bill anytime soon. Even less likely now that his son Justin has become a political leader. I think PET's predecessor, Lester Pearson, would be more deserving of the honour.

Just read an article stating that the new $5 will have Stephen Poloz's signature while the $10 will have Mark Carney's. Anyone with a $5 Carney specimen for sale? ;)
"Poloz unveils the last of the series â€" the $5 and $10 notes â€" on Thursday, with the lower denomination note bearing his signature."
