I think the best thing about Sony is they are challenging the status quo. Its forcing Nikon and Canon to up their game. I think I have said it before Canon too often seems to defensive of their current position. That means they don't take the Risks needed to produce market capturing new products. I absolute love the A7r but regret it doesn't have an EFCS. From what I have been reading Sony will not be putting out an upgraded version of the A7r rather the rumoured A9 ( 46mp professional ICLe will take its place. the key for me for non macro photography is the ability to use any FF lens on my mirrorless. I have used Canon Fd, Minolta MD, Sony Alpha, and Mamiya on the camera. If the A9 comes out and it is as rumoured, I will be getting it and a Leica, or Zeiss manual focus Macro lens. Though rmpsrmps has me intrigued which lens are you referring to? I wouldn't be surprised if it were the Minolta APO 200mm Macro( rare as hens teeth and just as hard to find)

the rumours are getting more specific. The latest ( mirrorless rumours) is the Canon 50 mp with be a mirrorless and it will be a new mount. Those of you who know the canon camera crowd will know that will great some interesting online discussions. I would be very surprised if Canon produced a new mount.

Edit I had already planned to go for the Sony A9. But if canon is bringing out a 50mp mirrorless I think I will wait for the reviews before I buy. With mirrorless all my current lenses will be usable on either the canon or the Sony.
