The ones I see as MS63 seem to be much more scuffed and dinged up, is this one worth a regrade? The Luster is MUCH better than these pictures show, my camera cuts out the glare on the slab

They're harder on keys/semi-keys. I'd have to see it in hand, can't tell from those pics, they hide way too much.

Quote: Strong 3, shot 4. what generation holder is it in? It looks like an old fatty holder as there aren't prongs holding the coin. The difference in pricing for this date is about $1,000 making an upgrade completely worth it. The ticks on the cheek will sure hurt the chances of an upgrade, the fields are nice and clean of marks. Maybe a crossover to PCGS is in order? The value in a PCGS holder seems to be slightly stronger than NGC holder Morgans, if the goal is to resale this coin. Id go for the crossover/upgrade to PCGS on this coin personally.

I am PCGS member and I have some raw coins to grade as well so its gonna go in. I also have a 1942/41 dime that may grade a bit higher than the EF45. I bought 14k in coins today, slabbed and raw

It's not a fatty, the fatty's don't have the line, I'm thinking Gen 7 does.
The more I look at the marks on the cheek, the more I think 3. I wouldn't bother sending it in.

I'm thinking it doesn't upgrade. Like it or not, PCGS seems a little harder on these than more common Morgans. Not that it isn't worth a try, but I wouldn't be optimistic. Specify "cross at grade or better" so you retain the slab if they decline.

Thats what I was thinking as well FadetoBlack. I have 5 other raw morgans (should be 64 and 65's) and was going to include this one on the same sheet. I still havent used my 6 free and am going to look in the morning to see if theres a coin price limit on those......

Well, I don't see you losing the 63 even if you crack, and there's no evidence whatsoever to question the surfaces. Even just a switch to PCGS is an effective market upgrade.

If you haven't read any of Michael Bugeja's colums on coin update, I suggest you give his crossover ones a quick once over, I found them pretty enlightening as I don't submit much any more to the TPGs, and I never had much luck when I did try a crossover or upgrade. http://news.coinupdate.com/author/michaelbugeja/I find his articles to be some of the best on line stuff I've read in a long time, quite enjoyable, go through the older articles link at the bottom left to see back when he started his crossover experiences with PCGS and NGC. His advice is generally right on the mark when it comes to TPGs.

Couple good sized hits on the cheek, I think this will come back MS-63 on a regrade. 50/50 chance for a 64 though.
