Hello!

Here is an 1818/7 I recently picked up! What are your grading thoughts? Also, any ideas on overton #? All opinions welcome!

AU-50 to 53 details. Cleaned. It's a beauty, I just have doubts on the originality of the surfaces. Nothing harsh and even if it was dipped/cleaned, it may be deemed "market acceptable" by a TPG. Not tryin to be a downer, just one guys honest opinion.

Looking at HA. In a righteous slab AU50-58's seem to go between $700-$3000. Au Details $300-$600.

I'm in agreement with jpbone. AU-Details, cleaned and questionable surfaces would likely keep this out of a problem free TPG holder in my opinion.

Looks like an AU Details Large 8 variety. Probably a $300 coin "as-is" a few years of re-toning might increase the value a lot.

AU50 details cleaned
I like the centering of the strike so you get the pronounced, even denticles around the whole coin.

AU-55, Overton O-101/R-1.

Diagnostics for 1818 (first 8 is large, second 8 over 7), O-101/R-1 (from http:/coinzip.com/proboards ) :

Quote:
O-101
Obverse die 1. Reverse die A.

Obverse: Date 11mm. 181 wider than last 18. First 8 is larger than second 8. Serifs and crossbar from 7 easily shows above top of 8 and there is a trace of the stand in the lower loop. Center dot located on neck.

Reverse: Center dot between crossbars 4 and 5. T-I are in line on the right side.
