XF and I am going 45. Great wheat stock, seperated check/jaw bone...and one hit in the field.

Hit in the field might keep it to 40. But, these are not always struck that well.

It does have XF detail but might get hit for environmental damage or reverse gouges, it almost looks like the coin could have been buried at one time. Still a pretty decent example of a semi-key date though.

Quite a few dealers would even put this at AU50....or at least priced that way.

I'm in at XF40 - the gouges and dings are a little unsightly and it looks like someone tried to put a cigarette out on his hair (maybe verdigris?). But that's not to say that I don't like it! She's a beaut!

thanks for the comments. This one is still "dirty" from circulation. The dirt is of the type that will probably easily come off wih a rag or acetone soak, but I like it this way. I don't think it has been cleaned, though it does have a spot above Lincoln's head which could be the beginning stages of corrosion. The seller actually had it marked VF-20, so I thought it was a good deal in light of that.

That was why I only gave it VF-35, too much wear on Lincolns hair, ear and cheek, and the wheat stalks have a bit of wear also.
In hand, it may go higher.
