Did some one say, "Post your tokens" ? As a kid, I think I first saw colonial tokens in a 1960's Charlton catalogue. Never owned any until ebay came along and I saw them in 2000 . Bought many in cheap lots, in any condition. I found out that there are 100's of varieties so had to prune a bunch. I still have several hundred, crappy to nice, all raw. So here come the first 3 of my 58 Thistle tokens 1823-43. Say when . I acquired an Ingram & Marelic "The Thistle Series" varieties catalogue, so the PNS (Province of Nova Scotia) # may be shown with the Charlton #. Right away there's a discrepancy between the two books for the 1823 Halfpenny; Charlton has 2 varieties with 15 leaves, I & M shows none, only 12-13-14 leaves. Does anyone know which is true ? The tokens shown are PNS-101 (NS-1A3), PNS-102 (NS-1A3), PNS-107 (NS-1A5).

Well Dorado, I checked on CoinsandCanada and now the view is even foggier. That site has 13/14/15 leaves but no prices for 12 leaves. My I&M book has 2 types (with hyphen) with 14 leaves, 2 with 13 leaves, 2 with 12 leaves, none with 15. If someone has a 15 leaf variety, please post it. It's listed as rarity-1 but I have never seen one in 18 years on ebay.

Here are my next 4 Thistle tokens; 2 x 1824. P far from bust (12 leaves)- NS-1C1 (PNS-151), and P near bust (14 leaves)- NS-1C2 (PNS-152). Rarity 4 and 3. 2 x 1832 originals. The Charlton catalogue I have (7th ed.) lists 3 varieties. The I & M catalogue lists 16 ! The 2 shown are NS-1D1 (PNS-304), long left ribbon, and NS-1D2 (PNS-304), long right ribbon. Both rarity 1.

3 more 1832's, all NS-1D3, that continue the previous post. I & M numbers- PNS-312, and 314 (both rarity 1), and the bottom one is PNS-310 (rarity 6). Differences are in the leaves and the locks of hair.
