@Wade: Your 1/2 Penny 1854 Crosslet «4» from the Doug Robins collection, to my knowledge, this is the only one certified Uncirculated by the most reputable certification companies. And personally, I have also seen very few uncertified ones over the years. It's a rare example. This token should never have been sold in a lot of many tokens at the Heritage sale.
For your 1 Penny 1852 Large «2» (Heaton Mint), it's the most frequent variety PC-6B5 for this issue (Courteau #249 with a frequency of about 6.5% compared to all one penny 1852). It's a beautiful uncirculated token. However, contrary to what I often read on this forum, I generally refrain from grading a coin/token via a photo when the grade exceeds MS-60.
I'm sorry if my English isn't perfect... I'm learning a little more every day.

Quote: This token should never have been sold in a lot of many tokens at the Heritage sale. I couldn't agree more. Neither NGC or Heritage listed the crosslette 4 variety & I wonder if some were distracted by others in the group. I paid a premium for the lots I purchased, but would do it again in a heart beat as I managed to add some really really nice tokens to my collection. Scorp & IGE, thank you for the kind words, acquiring these was relatively easy compared to acquiring the knowledge within this series (something I am still working on, and somehow think I will never finish)

Always nice to see the ones we really want, but now back to an actual coin that was used, that isn't as pretty The last of my semi-regal original Nova Scotia tokens; 1843 penny Four Fringes, 3 over 0. NS-2D3 (PNS-802 R-8). I won this on ebay when the variety was not listed in the auction and no one else noticed it. As such I didn't pay any more than $25 for it. Not sure how to grade it (only VG-F-VF listed in my Charlton) but I'm thinking F-12 ? The underlying 0 is almost invisible when seen straight on (photo 3), but shows up with the light at an angle (photo 4). There is only a small part of the 0 in front of the 3 and a very thin line behind. Have a look also at how they made the 8. Any interest in the counterfeits ? Sorry, no thousand+ dollar 1382's, but have most of the others.

@hounddog - yes, Charlton Token Catalogue 9th edition list 5 types of Military Buttons that were flattened to make tokens. British Militia 1775; Montreal British Militia; Montreal Fire Brigade; Quebec Militia; British Regiment of Foot, 25th, 69th, and 76th (rarest). My example is one of the most common.
Economic conditions between 1830 + 1870 had to be truly dire if one had to resort to squashing your buttons to pay for commerce.
