Just received this scarce piece. I think it is over graded by PCGS, IMHO it is VF but the price was right. Prince Edward Island Sheaf of Wheat token, PE-4, Br-916.

Concerning the PE-4.
These are scarce tokens. The PCGS grade is accurate. These are poorly struck tokens and you will be hardpressed to find an upgrade.
Mine is ICCS F 12.

That is probably what I would have said a few years ago as a grade for this token. But since Dr. Courteau's token reappeared for sale, I have revised my gradation. Personally, I would have graded this token VF-30 based on a database with photos of over 80 examples that I have accumulated over the years. That said, it is true that it is quite difficult to find an example in better condition (And several examples are indeed poorly minted and with planchet flaws). Dr. Courteau's example (which was in the Partrick collection):

A word of caution for collectors of Canadian colonial tokens. I recently discovered two new counterfeits from the Bank of Upper Canada token series. One is for the 1 Penny 1850 (there has already been one on the market from China for several years), and the second is for the 1 Penny 1852. The two examples appear to share the same reverse (Although I would like to have some examples in hand before being categorical). To an experienced collector, it is obvious that something is wrong with these coins. But for others, a fairly simple way to identify them is to look at the bottom of the royal crown on the reverse: These two new counterfeits appear to come from the same source as the PC-4 (Breton #528) and NB-1A2 (Breton #910) counterfeit tokens that have appeared on the market in recent years (But this remains to be confirmed definitively).
