Assuming it's not in the US...

Quote:
from Sol's bright ray

I'm still confused about this... the S is capitalized. Maybe the Solomon Islands. I'm pretty sure it's the only country starting with Sol...

I think he saw the concorde in Dallas (connecting flight)and then flew west, into
the sun, although there was supposed to be an eclipse, he was still blinded by the light.
That (1973)solar eclipse was more prominent in the southern hemisphere.

You guys have fun with this today, I'm hitting the slopes.

Sol is also the name for day on Mars.
"from Sol's bight ray" is simply a poetic phrase for "the sun's light."

Sorry, rooneydog, no closer.

About the hints: IF I did not translate these hints from the original language ...
the game would be over.

upsate,
enjoy the slopes and don't fall off any mountains!

No. Let's forget Europe, shall we?

"The drought had lasted two million years."
"We're not doing any good here."
"We want you to fall in love with the country."
"If you don't leave you will die."

Yeah, it was a rough time for me, both physically and mentally.
Posting this contest is great therapy for me.

"****! The amoebes!"

Howdy Buddy,

I'll let YouTube speak for me:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BL5E9BG2CWs

As Ed McMahon used to say, "You are correct, sir!"

"come visit us soon"

No thanks, been there already. TOO HOT!

But it ain't over, as Buddy missed question three.
