I was doing some order with my banknotes and I found some of these. As they are in bad condition, they don't have collectible value.

Are they still legal tender? Because they changed them for the $2 coin. Can I deposit them to my bank account?

I was on a road trip and took some $1 and $2 banknotes to spend, alot of fun especially at Timmys. The facial expressions on some of the younger staff were always entertaining. spend them but check the serial numbers first.
Who knows ,you might spawn a New collectors interest.

with nickel rubber, spend them instead of taking them to the bank, you might get someone's interest sparked and help create a new collector.

Well, at least with the banknote of the picture, as there are missing pieces, nobody except a Bank would take it.

So, I just came from the Bank. The teller knew from the beginning that it was a valid money but she asked her supervisor what to do with the famous bill ... then she separated it from the rest of the bills and put it in a bag (I suppose it'll be sent to the Bank of Canada).

About 6 years ago on a trip to Winnipeg I brought along a stack of unwanted $1 and $2 banknotes. Nothing special or collectible, I just had a pile of them and thought I would use them. When I paid for meals the cashier looked at me funny but took them without problems.

1) All circulating legal tender must be accepted for any debt.
2) All bank notes are still legal. You can cash in a 1900 $1 at a bank if you are a lunatic.
3) The only coins ever demonetized IIRC were the 4 1976 Olympic $5/$10 coins.
