Many think the dot was a marker or remainder of the ml but it wasnt, it was die pitting you can tell because the nickel has multiple dots and does not match up with the position of the ml

But one has to wonder how in one year half the dies got that perfect dot in the perfect spot.

Next question......by the late 1950s the master die for silver dollars was missing detail in the northern lights and water lines.
Your question is in what year were the master dies re engraved and who did the re engraving?

Wow you guys have gone a long way since yesterday!

It looks like I might have some motivation to buy a 2014 Charleton's just to get updated info. I quit buying price guides years ago b/c I never found the prices in them close to reality and the rest of the info (including accurate pricing) is available online. But it is nice to have all the info in hand and in one place.
